Tim is a Life Fellow and Past President of the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia and a director of Contract Administration Group Pty Ltd. Tim is also a member of LEADR and of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation and Dispute Resolution Board Australasia.
Tim
is a Grade 1 Arbitrator, Accredited Mediator, Accredited Adjudicator under the
Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act (NSW), Accredited
Adjudicator under the Construction Industry Payments Act (QLD), Accredited
Adjudicator under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment
Act (Victoria), and an accredited ADR Provider for all forms of dispute
resolution under the Workplaces Relations Act 1996.
Tim’s main background in dispute resolution commenced with Building and Construction matters but he has since covered a diverse range of disputes covering areas such a professional misconduct, mining, waste treatment and disposal, disputes over fees, assessment of damages, disputes involving franchises and partnerships, insurance matters and court references. Tim has conducted adjudications ranging in size from $10 thousand to $92 million, multi–party court references, arbitrations and mediations. Tim provides advice and assistance to many clients where difficulties or disputes arise.
MAIN AREAS OF WORK:
Dispute avoidance and dispute management, contract administration and site supervision for subdivisions, workplace disputes, railway construction, underground rail station fitout, ocean outfall, sewerage treatment plants, pipeline, mining infrastructure, major earthworks, road construction, stabilised pavement construction, amenities buildings, concrete bridges, piling, geotechnical issues, land reclamation, extensions to social club, hydraulics, building facades, tennis courts, residential, hospital and school construction, data cabling, road tanker terminal construction, stabilised pavements, investment and joint venture disputes, industrial and chemical linings. Management and determination of complex disputes in areas such a latent conditions, Trade Practices and Fair Trading Claims, design changes and design development, assessment of damages, product liability, variations, defects, trade practices claims, termination, professional misconduct, and negligence issues.
OTHER DISPUTE RESOLUTION PARTICIPATION:
Tim is a Past National President of the Institute of Arbitrators anfd Mediators Australia . He has spent a number of years as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the ACT Chapter of the Institute. He has presented papers at various seminars, workshops and conferences on Adjudication, Dispute Resolution, Arbitration, Negotiation, Contract Administration and Mediation and has conducted training of other professionals in those disciplines. Tim has tutored in the Professional Certificate Course in Arbitration and Mediation – in association with University of Adelaide, Australian National University and UTS. He has also tutored in IAMA Mediation courses in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001 and in IAMA Adjudication courses in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Tim has presented training to adjudciators in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. He has addressed the NSW Law Society Seminar on Specialist Accreditation, Building Science Forum of Australia, Chartered Institute of Buildings, Institute of Quantity Surveyors, and has addressed students at ANU Law School and the University of Canberra Law School on ADR and Arbitration.
